To get relief from Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS), your wrist needs to be immobilised during the day.
TRUE and FALSE! Yes, in an ideal world, but immobilising your wrist during activity causes you to change how you move, and you may compensate by overusing other joints like the elbow or shoulder. These can soon begin to show signs of suffering. During the day, it is better to protect the wrist from potentially harmful actions with an active brace that doesn’t stop it from moving.
One brace can be used for both hands.
FALSE! The CARP'ACTIV™ brace has been designed to perfectly fit the natural shape of the hand. Also, a support strip has been integrated on the top of the wrist to favour its alignment and to reduce pressures on the carpal tunnel. By stretching during inappropriate movements, the brace makes its user aware of these movements and helps correct them. In this way, one brace can only fit one hand.
Recurrence of carpal tunnel syndrome is possible.
TRUE! Recurrence is possible, no matter the treatment. Even after surgery, persistent or recurrent symptoms (i.e. after a 3-months calm period) may reappear. In those cases, you should consult your GP who will clearly identify the causes of this relapse. A second surgical intervention may be considered.
